I was just wondering/hoping that the NEW VAM Update add the ACTIONS (section) - at the BOTTOM of the page - which includes the Push buttons...

LIST FLEET ROUTE      LIST FLEET TYPE      NEW ROUTE      NEW FLEET TYPE

... to the TOP of the page as well?

Reason for this request is... one has to do a LOT of SCROLLING DOWN to the bottom of the page with each subsequent entry of a NEW route because upon completing a NEW ROUTE entry... the REFRESH defaults to the TOP of the page? Does that make sense?

Cheers,

Keith

New and Announcements / Re: Google Maps API and Key
« on: May 23, 2018, 04:20:45 PM »
Thank you very much Sophie. The 'edits' to those .PHP files (appear to) have worked.  Now, that raises NEW possibilities for me to research... "Hmmm... like having the ability to CLICK on each of the 'Push Pins' and display data for the Airport... OR... have a default where (at least) the ICAO of the Airport is displayed along with the Push Pin... OR... Hover over the Push Pin to display the ICAO data?"

New and Announcements / Google Maps API and Key
« on: May 23, 2018, 04:07:33 AM »
This may not affect some VAM users (yet). But it has affected my beta VA. The Live Flights Map and the Past 10 Flights Map no longer works. The following error message/dialog pops up...

Oops! Something went wrong.
This page didn't load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.

This is NOT (I repeat... NOT) a VAM coding surprise issue. The problem is caused by an change implemented by Google... requiring users of the Map API to get an API Key from Google.

My question to VAM is...  Is this API Key necessity going to be resolved during new version of VAM?

My thoughts are... if I were to get a Key independently... and regain Map display ( some minor tweaking of source code required ) when an update to VAM is released... will the update wipe out the mods previously performed by the individual user(s) to get the Map working again?

I've looked around at another VAM installation (Lufthansa) and that VA's Maps also do not work - just like my beta site. So, I'm NOT making this up.

Hope to hear back from VAM Dev.

Cheers,

Keith

Bug reports / Re: Can't continue on next leg - no routes available
« on: April 22, 2018, 10:02:27 PM »
UPDATE:  After of looking at the code (sql) within route_selection_stage1.php (BTW... there is nothing wrong with the sql code) it appears the reason I encountered the POSTED error lies in the 'missing' alternate airport within the "airports" table.

So, a...

DEPARTURE = ORBI
ARRIVAL = OMDB
ALTERNATE = OTHH (missing)

Once I substituted OTBD as the ALTERNATE via ROUTE NAMAGER - (regardless of whether OTBD is a proper alternate), then the previously created route leg displayed.

Perhaps OTHH can be included in the airports table for the upcoming SP?   Also, if ADMIN can provide accurate values for the columns in this (new) record? I can add it myself?

Hope this can assist someone else and ADMIN you may close this topic as you see fit.

Cheers,

Keith

Sorry drgullen. This will not happen again. My apologies...

I entered a fleet plane costing $8m then I added another identical plane (different reg#) each one at a different hub each costing $8m but I think the financials doesn't account for the 2nd acquisition?  Is this possible? My wife (an accountant) thinks I'm doctoring the books... LOL LOL

Bug reports / Can't continue on next leg - no routes available
« on: April 20, 2018, 03:59:53 AM »
Hi drgullen.  It's me again. This time I'm truly lost... here's the scenario:

a) completed a flight from LFPB to ORBI.  There another leg set up in my routes from ORBI to OMAA and so forth. In fact I have three additional routes out of ORBI

b) VAMACARS recorded the flight correctly... I'm at ORBI and the plane is also at ORBI

When I go to Book Route from Pilot Actions, there's nothing showing up... not even the (verified-as-there) ORBI-OMAA leg.

I looked through some of the code (.php) and I found where the sql is parsed to populate available routes and I can only assume that a 'route_id' is missing from some table file which sorta makes the lookup valid?    Looking at the related tables (and comparing it to the php logic) something got broken somewhere such that not a single route out of ORBI is showing up?

I got a headache just from scratching my head on this one. Also I checked similar forum topics which made me scratch my head even more.

Any thoughts on this one?

I do recall purging a table called 'reserves'.  Did that 'toast' the linkage to the routes?

Thanks drgullen ( if you see this topic)

Cheers,

Keith

Bug reports / SIM ACARS 1.4.1
« on: March 31, 2018, 06:45:16 PM »
1) VAM is installed on a sub-domain for testing.
2) FSX is up and running with a paid FSUIPC... can connect SmartCARS and ProjectFLY with no problems
3) SIM ACARS 1.4.1 is fired up
     Virtual Airline Settings
               New Virtual Airline
Callsign           = Admin guy from system creation
Password        = pwd used to log into sub domain VAM
VA Name         = the testing VA name
VA ICAO          = the testing VA ICAO
VA ACARS URL = http://the correct sub-domain URL (which works when typed into Firefox)
                            Weight Unit     = Lbs
At this point the entry is complete and the Airline entry is complete.
Select the Virtual Airline Login airline from the pulldown down at the bottom
                            Press the "Login button"

I get the three (3) error dialog boxes...
a) Error trying to get aircrafts from VAM system... Press OK
b) Error trying to get aircrafts from VA web... Press OK
c) Error trying to connect to the VA web... Press OK

Looking at the errorlog file...

Remember... the sub-domain installation is working based on my earlier help request about "any_txt" showing up in the Ranks field AND I can connect to the installation using the URL that's being used for the ACARS connection.

Once more... Thanks for any assistance.

Cheers,

Keith

Additional request from  OAV001 & drgullen?

The table named PILOTS is completely empty. The table named GVAUSERS contain every pilot i've created so far (including the default -  gvauser/admin that was created with the VAM creation process).

The run-time (correctly shows - in my case) 5 pilots TOTAL as follows...

default user        -- user type 3
me as (Admin)    -- user type 3
my CFO               -- user type 1
my OPS/MGR       -- user type 1
a pilot                 -- user type 2    *** This is the first regular pilot

In the above structure example "default user" and "me as (Admin)" can log in with full privileges.  "my CFO" and "my OPS/MGR" are assigned STAFF positions. Then there is "a pilot" with the type 2 status - regular pilot.

Look at the tables with phpMyAdmin on the sub-domain I see the five (5) records in gvausers table  BUT there is no one in the pilots table.

So, when does the pilots table get populated?

Guys thank you again for any input/explanations/solutions.

Additionally, I will create another HELP REQUEST Topic regarding SIM ACARS 1.4  so as not to embed this in the same place. Please assist me over on that topic if you can?

Cheers,

Keith

Hello  OAV001 & drgullen

Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!!  Your advice is 100% spot ON. Thank you so much!!!  I now see where I have NOT yet created the graphics that represent the ranks.

Hello. I've installed VAM 2.6 into a SUB DOMAIN off my regular hosting account for testing before buying a separate domain. VAM seems to be working alright.  However the i have a situation where there is some extra text which is showing up in the Rank Field on the Pilot Profile page. "some_text" magically adds itself to the Pilot's Rank field for the pilots I'm testing.

If I give a rank of Senior Captain? It displays as "some_textSenior Captain" regardless of whatever rank I assign.

I can mouse select ONLY the actual Rank like in  "Senior Captain".  I cannot select the "some_text", Pretty weird.  When I examine the db column (rank) for each pilot, the extra text is not there... the data is clean. But when in VAM Pilot Profile display mode... it's there.  Any ideas? Anyone?

Thanks in advance,

Keith
